Greetings, all the lovely people who visit the Internet's wonderland that is my blog. Today, I finally decided to post my list of holy grail items that transform my face to the presentable state that you all see upon my leaving the house. My apologies in advance to those who anticipated a more extensive list of products, since you'll see that I only consider 8 products to be "holy grail" products or "products I couldn't live without" in terms of make up. I do plan on posting a Holy Grail: Skincare Edition list some time soon, but until then, enjoy my below justifications for the 8 products that did make the list. Swatches at the end!

Nars Sheer Glow Foundation (shade: Santa Fe)
After a couple of months of pondering whether or not I should buy this foundation, I finally caved in and experienced its magic for myself. A tiny amount goes a long way with this foundation, it lasts me over 8 hours without setting with a powder and, true to its name, it does leave a glowing finish to the skin (not dewy, though). It's really easy to blend, doesn't feel too heavy on the skin, and I haven't found it to be drying on my skin either. At approximately AUD$68, it is quite pricey for the amount that you get (30mL or 1 Fl. Oz.) but it's quickly become my favourite foundation and I would still repurchase it when I eventually run out.

Nars Lipstick (shade: Honolulu Honey)
The absolute perfect nude lip. Nars has really been on their game, huh. I use this almost every single day and it's the only lipstick I've ever even come close to finishing. It compliments any kind of makeup perfectly because it's such a wearable shade with hardly any pink in it. I talk more about this lipstick here, so go check that out for more detail!

Chanel Joues Contraste Powder Blush (shade: 65 Espiégle)
If you read my makeup haul here, you would notice that I didn't seem too fond of this blush at the time of that post because my first impression of it was that it had very little pigmentation (even the swatch below was 3 swipes of it). But as I started using it more, I realised it's the perfect everyday blush because it's easily build-able and gives you a really natural glow from its tiny shimmer particles. As a result, this has also made its way to my everyday makeup routine.

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer (shade: 15 Fair Claire)
I've already purchased this for the third time, which I think speaks for itself. It matches my skin tone perfectly in winter and still works great now in summer under my foundation for extra coverage and to brighten certain areas. On days when I don't want to wear any foundation, I'll just use this and call it a day. It's pretty inexpensive for the quality and amount of product, and considering I use it every single day, this definitely makes the list.

Maybelline The Falsies Volum' Express Waterproof Mascara (shade: Very Black)
My favourite drugstore mascara that I've tried! Lengthens, adds volume and holds eyelash curl all day. Admittedly, this mascara isn't as waterproof as I would like or expect it to be, so I like to top it with Urban Decay Cannonball mascara, which is the most waterproof mascara I've ever used. This mascara combination is, for lack of a better word, freakin' amazing. I once forgot to remove my makeup before stepping into the shower and rubbed my eyes in the water several times. When I stepped back out of the shower, all my eyeshadows and liner were smudged to oblivion but my lashes looked as if I had just applied the products. My curl was still perfect and the length and volume was all still intact.

Mac Paint Pot (shade: Painterly)
This makes my holy grail list because by some desperate, serendipitous act, I discovered that this product is actually not only a great eyeshadow base, but is a miracle worker when it comes to concealing blemishes. I already use this product under my eyeshadows every day as a primer, but now whenever I have blemishes I need concealed, I find that the ultimate combo is to dab this over the problem area and top with concealer or foundation. Try it. Seriously. No joke. Oh, and it's a great eyeshadow base.

Lucas' Papaw Ointment
This is the ultimate multipurpose lifesaver. I personally use this throughout the day as a lip balm, on my cuticles as a cuticle cream when my skin is dry and on any dry patches on my face if any. A little bit goes a very long way with this, so it takes a long time to finish even one tube (it also comes in tub form, but I just think the tube is more sanitary), but even so I've already purchased this 3 times. In case you still don't believe me on how multipurpose this product is, here are the exact words on the packaging:
"A local topical application for boils, burns, chafing, cuts, cracked skin, gravel rash, splinters, open wounds, insect bites and nappy rash."

Rock and Republic Eye Shadow (shade: Carat)
Unfortunately this discontinued a long time ago, so I recognise that including this in the list is helpful to exactly nobody, but the logic deprived part of my brain told me to include it anyway since I do use this every day. I used to use this all over my lid, or as an inner corner highlight, or a brow bone highlight, or a facial highlight or all of the above, all of which it worked beautifully. That is, until I dropped it on the floor multiple times and it shattered. Unwilling to throw it away, I do still desperately use whatever is left of it with a small contour brush to highlight the bridge of my nose and the tops of my cheekbones.

Finally, on to the swatches!

Hope you guys enjoyed my list of holy grail makeup items!

Lots of love!
