Hello pretty people! I've used a few different foundations over the past few months, some that I've absolutely loved, so I've chosen my top 3 high-end liquid foundations to share my thoughts on. Swatches at the end!

Nars Sheer Glow Foundation from Mecca Cosmetica

Nars Sheer Glow Foundation (shade: Santa Fe)
I would say this foundation is medium to full coverage despite its name "sheer glow". What really impressed me about this foundation, though, was the lasting power. This foundation lasted a full 6 hour work shift with steam all over my face and when I got home I was still looking pretty fresh. Even more impressive was the first dayI wore it, a colleague asked me what foundation I was wearing because she noticed that my skin looked flawless and more "glowy" than before. Needless to say, this reaction scored huge points with me. However, of the three foundations, this one is has the runniest consistency and least travel friendly packaging. I reviewed it a little bit more here in my previous holy grail list, but an updated holy grail list will be posted soon, so keep an eye out for that!

Burberry Velvet Foundation from David Jones

Burberry Velvet Foundation (shade: 201)
This was the first foundation that I ever really splurged on. In comparison to the Nars Sheer Glow and Laura Mercier Silk Creme foundations, I find this one to be the fullest coverage of the three and the only one that dries to a completely matte finish. I love the travel friendly, lightweight, stylish packaging, although the packaging is quite bulky considering it has the same amount of product as the Nars Sheer Glow (30mL). Unfortunately, I bought this when I was a lighter shade and as much as I would've liked to, the only thing standing between me and purchasing it in my current shade is the price, since it is quite an expensive foundation. I've reviewed it a bit more here, so check that post out if you would like more details.

Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation from David Jones

Laura Mercier Silk Crรจme Foundation (shade: Medium Ivory)
The most obvious difference is that this foundation is packaged in a small tube, unlike the others, which are pumped from a bottle, and leans the most yellow of the three. This one also has more product than the Nars Sheer Glow and Burberry Velvet foundations, at 35mL (1.18 fl. oz.). The Silk Creme foundation is a lot thicker than the other two foundations, so a little goes a long way, however I find that this looks best when applied with a dense kabuki brush as opposed to the Beauty Blender or fingers, whereas the other two look more consistent regardless of what is used to apply them.

  1. great post I am stuck in between getting the Laura Mercier and the Nars sheer glow I just cant decide lol Iv followed you on bloglovin hope you can follow back xxx

    1. I think the Nars sheer glow dries down better without setting with a powder, but I find the Laura Mercier one feels "wet" for quite a long time if you don't set with a powder. I'd recommend the Nars sheer glow for everyday, but if you travel heaps then probably go for the Laura Mercier and just top it with a translucent powder :) Hope that helps!

Thanks so much for following, love, really appreciate it!
